A little about Boyd

Boyd was born in Lubbock and moved with his parents we he was very young to South Texas, attending pre-school through half of 5th grade in Leon Valley. Boyd finished 5th grade in Burleson, Texas and then moved with his parents and brother back to Lubbock to attend Nat Williams Elementary in the 6th grade. Boyd went to Evans Junior High (Evans Middle School) and graduated from the LEAP Program at Lubbock High School.

Boyd is a graduate of Texas Tech University with BBA in Finance. While at Texas Tech, Boyd became involved as a volunteer at The Lubbock State School working with the Volunteer Services Council. After graduating from Texas Tech, Boyd worked in Sales including Health Insurance and Industrial Products. Boyd’s passion for people and faith took Boyd into full-time Church Ministry. Boyd served as Associate Youth Director at First United Methodist Church in Lubbock from 1995 to 1998. He continued to work as a volunteer for Lubbock State School as Treasurer and President of the Volunteer Services Council in Lubbock and was elected State Treasurer for the Volunteer Services State Council for MHMR.

Boyd’s ministry continued in Houston becoming the Director of Youth Ministry at John Wesley United Methodist Church from 1998 to 2001. He continued to work as a volunteer for the Richmond State School as the Volunteer Services State Council Treasurer while in Houston. Boyd became the Youth Minister at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Houston in 2001 where he served until returning to Lubbock as Youth Minister at First United Methodist Church in 2007. He has lived in his home in the Melonie Park area ever since, raising his son’s Curran who graduated from Monterey High School and Luke who attended Evans Middle School and graduated from Coronado High School.

In 2013, Boyd was asked to join Globe Energy Services to use his passion for connecting people as part of the Human Resources Team. He worked with employees from Carlsbad, Artesia, Hobbs, Lamesa, Denver City, Andrews, Levelland and Lubbock before taking on an expanded role in Human Resources as a Manager for Gravity Oilfield Services. In 2019, Boyd was asked to take the role of Assets Manager for Gravity where he served until March of 2025. Boyd is now the Lubbock Area Director for Access Rentals, a start-up equipment and events rental business with locations in Granbury, Snyder and the Lubbock Area.
